Riley Knows He Can is a sweet little book about doing something you've never done before, but trusting in your abilities with the help of others and your inner strength.

"But what if I freeze? Or what if I walk onstage and I sneeze?" These are the kind of questions even adults ask themselves, and it's good to let children explore the concept of doubt early on. The rhyme scheme is a good way to introduce kids to some basic phonological skills.

Riley Knows He Can has a wonderful message for young readers about self-confidence and helping one another. The story is written in rhyming prose as it tells the story of Riley. He has terrible stage fright, but with his sister helping him with his lines and giving in a rhyme to say to himself to give him confidence he is able to perform and do a great job. With a cast of diverse characters the book reinforces positive relationships among families and friends. My grandson, niece and nephew enjoy ...more

Love this book! First, the illustrations are amazing and show diversity. That said, the text is amazing as well. As a speech language pathologist, I am always looking for rhyming text to help with literacy skills. This book has that, with the theme of typical performance anxiety. The little boy in the story is going to be in a school play and is a bit nervous, but his big sister gives him advice that he can do it. Overcoming stage fright for small children is a real thing, and I can see teachers ...more

A starring role in his school’s play can be rather daunting but Riley’s sister Ella gives him the confidence to perform.

I love this book. It is equally as good as Riley Can Be Anything and although I’m a good fifty years older than the target audience, it felt like an old friend had returned to read about Riley’s new adventure.

The elements that I so appreciated in Riley Can Be Anything are present in Riley Knows He Can. The gender and ethnicity balance of the characters is wonderful, giving equa

A beautiful book about building self confidence, and learning you can do exciting and big things if you only put your mind to it. Riley earns a big part in the school play, but gets anxious about the crowd. His sister shares a little secret with him that helps him stay positive and focus on his lines. A beautiful book that sends out a beautiful message. A great book for young children.

This sweet story about Riley, nervous about his first school play, features deeply color-saturated illustrations that bring depth to an inspirational tale of facing fears with the help of family. A follow-up to 2017’s Riley Can Be Anything, one hopes this becomes a long happy series children and parents can enjoy together again and again! 5/5

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the review copy.

This charming book is written in rhyme and has a positive message for all to adhere to.

Riley is very excited that he obtained the star role in his school play. He will be projecting himself as a King and his older devoted sister Ella helps him learn all of his lines to perfection and gives her anxious and nervous little brother a wonderful piece of advice to carry him through his performance.

"Relax," Ella told him. "Let's get one thing straight:
I know you can do this, you're going to be great:

    * I received this book on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.* This is a lovely children's book about overcoming our fears! The main protagonist, Riley is starring in his first school play and to help him along his way, his older sister imparts some words of wisdom: I know I can, I can. Through her encouragement, and the encouragement of their parents Riley's first play went off without a hitch. In the end, he not only displays the mark of a great leader by being confident but also but c ...more

Riley Knows He Can is the sweetest story about a little boy who is afraid he's going to forget the lines for his school play. Of course, he has practiced and practiced, but every kid gets stage fright, right? Of course, with some encouragement from his big sister, Riley realizes that he can, in fact, do this! He is going to be the best king ever!

Lady Quinn and I had so much fun reading this book together. She was a fan of the pictures, of course, but also seemed to enjoy the story. She pointed

This is the second Riley book that I have read and I love it as much as the first. Riley is a typical kid. His school play is today and he plays the King! He is so nervous, but with a little mantra from his sister he can do it, he can. A lovely story with great illustrations.

A wondrous book of rhyming verse about Riley coming through in the school play. He is nervous at first, an d his sister supplies him with the mantra of “if you start feeling nervous, this is the plan:
Say in your head ‘I can do this I can.‘”
So Riley repeats this mantra silently on performance day and comes through just fine. For the little ones who may have some worry about being on the stage, a night with this book can surely alleviate young anxiety. The illustrations are kind of flat and don’t

Riley Knows He Can is an adorable book about a young boy named Riley that is afraid of being the king in his school play. He has a case of stage fright, but his sister gives him some encouraging words. Any time Riley started to be afraid, he'd repeat the mantra that his sister had taught him. Riley his able to perform in the school play and he does a wonderful job. Riley Knows He Can is a beautiful rhyming book for children.
Riley is about to take part in his first school performance and he has stage fright. With smart advice and encouragement from his sister he overcomes his fears.
Lovely rhymes, very helpful book that tells a story about an important issue that so many children have problems with. It deals with it in a kind and gentle manner.
Also shows how helpful sister's love and support can be.
    Nicely illustrated as well.

A young boy gets a massive case of stage fright, in rhyme.
His sister gives him a charming pep talk.
He gets over it and he and his friends put on a great show at school.
Really hope kids don’t get bored by this, as there’s not much to it.
