This is actually a really phenomenal story, a real page turner, and I can't help wondering: (1) Why had I never heard this story before, and (2) Why has this not been made into a movie by Steven Spielberg? If you're looking for a good biography/adven ...more

Eleanor Roosevelt
“A mature person is one who does not think only in absolutes, who is able to be objective even when deeply stirred emotionally, who has learned that there is both good and bad in all people and in all things, and who walks humbly and deals charitably with the circumstances of life, knowing that in this world no one is all knowing and therefore all of us need both love and charity.”

Providence and Perspective (Religion & Spirituality)

Description: An essay written to a friend at church on the concept of "providence." The recipient of this letter is not clear -- possibly a friend, possibly one of the pastors? Clearly a friend at church though, as she would understand the YA LDG is a reference to my adult Sunday School class. What is very interesting is that this was written on the day I stood before Session to become a member of my present church congregation. Perhaps this was written for me alone and never sent at all??? Perhaps this was written later in the evening AFTER I stood before Session??? I do not remember which.
