I was given a copy of this book by the Publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

My three-year-old daughter, who has two mommies, enjoyed this book. The illustrations were engaging for her, and she was easily able to follow the story.

I received a free galley of this book on Netgalley.

I am still sometimes confused by they/them pronouns, and how to start conversations about pronouns in general. This graphic novel format book was a great way to clarify some of my questions, and is a

I really wanted to love this book, but the writing simply wasn't there. I listened to the audiobook, and the audio element was also disappointing. I couldn't even get through it all.
The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang
"This book is the anachronistic 19th century French fairytale meets Project Runway but with cross dressing and deconstruction of gender norms of my dreams. "

While I think this book takes an interesting look into sexuality and gender during Shakepeare's lifetime through the lens of a boy who plays female roles on stage, the pacing is much too fast, and the story never quite finds its way.

I've heard this book has quite a few historical inaccuracies, but I still loved it. It had this fierce vibe to it that was so proud and exciting. It was a very enjoyable read.

Billy Collins
Introduction to Poetry

I ask them to take a poem
and hold it up to the light
like a color slide

or press an ear against its hive.

I say drop a mouse into a poem
and watch him probe his way out,

or walk inside the poem's room
and feel the walls for a light switch.

I want them to waterski
across the surface of a poem
waving at the author's name on the shore.

But all they want to do
is tie the poem to a chair with rope
and torture a confession out of it.

They begin beating it with a hose
to find out what it really means.”
Billy Collins, The Apple that Astonished Paris

David Sedaris
“If you aren't cute, you may as well be clever.”
David Sedaris, Me Talk Pretty One Day

Maya Angelou
“First best is falling in love. Second best is being in love. Least best is falling out of love. But any of it is better than never having been in love.”
Maya Angelou

Aravind Adiga
“So I stood around that big square of books. Standing around books, even books in a foreign language, you feel a kind of electricity buzzing up toward you, Your Excellency. It just happens, the way you get erect around girls wearing tight jeans.
"Except here what happens is that your brain starts to hum.
Aravind Adiga, The White Tiger
